Starting on October 1st, 2010, you'll see changes in the prices of CutterAgent's screenprinted unit apparel. These changes are described below. Since 2004, I've gained a lot of experience and data on labor costs and material prices, and the new pricing scale accurately reflects these costs.
This is the first significant change in the pricing scale since I started CutterAgent seven years ago...some of these changes have been a bit overdue!
Note that the below changes ONLY affect screenprinted apparel...pricing and policies for unit ballcaps, challenge coins, and other products remain the same as before.
1. NEW DISCOUNT TIERS: Previously, the only discount was 12% once you reached 72 total items. Now the discounts will be at 50-99 items (10% off) and 100+ (15% off). While the 12 item minimum remains in effect, my goal is to encourage morale officers to purchase a few extras to keep on hand, rather than make lots of small orders. While small orders are easy for shirts with just white ink, they're a nightmare (and I'm actually losing money on labor!) for units with 7 or 8 inks. More on that in the next bullet...
2. COST PER INK IS NOW $2: The previous shirt cost was calculated at $1 additional per ink. I've raised that to $2 per ink to account for the time and labor required to prep and dismount the screens for each job. I'm also hoping to encourage units to use fewer inks in their shirts. And as an incentive to lower design's your ink count, I'll gladly redesign your apparel art to incorporate fewer colors, at no charge.
3. CHANGES IN APPAREL BASE PRICE: Industry-wide, blank apparel prices have gone up by $1 or more since I started CutterAgent in 2004. Most of these increases happened during the gas price spike in 2008, but never came back down after fuel costs decreased (go figure). So, I'm catching up to reality with price adustments to my blank products. Shouldn't be a shock, but just wanted to make sure you knew about it.
4. SETUP COST FOR MULTIPLE DESIGNS: I normally don't charge a setup fee for t-shirts, since I often have your crest design on file in vector format anyway. And it's just my personal philosophy that every unit, large or small, should be able to afford a sharp-looking t-shirt and sweatshirt. But if you want to have a second or even third design available in your store, there will now be a one-time $50 minimum setup charge for the 2nd Design to build your artwork & screens, and program your web store. This will only apply to new stores...if you have a second design in your store already, you're 'grandfathered-in' and won't have to pay extra.
5. ADDITIONAL PRODUCTS: The happier news is, I'm adding some cool products into all the unit web stores, after great success doing some 'special jobs' with these products for a handful of units. These include Carhartt® 14oz Heavy Hoodies, quarter-zip collared pullovers, and Haines® Beefy-T's. You can mix and match these to meet the minimums and discounts, the same as always. Also, since I was under the hood anyway, I added OttoFlex Full Mesh Ballcaps to the unit ballcap line.
I've done my best to make only NECESSARY changes, and to avoid penalizing smaller units just because of your size. Smaller units built CutterAgent, and you guys are where my loyalty lies. If you DO have a lot of screens, and can't meet the minimums needed to get a discount, let's talk about rebuilding your shirt art so that it uses fewer ink screens. I really want you to have high-quality gear with sharp artwork...we'll find a way to do it. I'm creative if nothing else!
Best regards,
Rob Green
